When we first started designing our quick attack we looked at a lot of different manufactures, and actually overlooked Weis! This type of appartatus was a litle different from the norm. We wanted a dual purpose for wildland fires and a back up rescue. We also wanted to look at CAFS as an option on this truck. Weis went out of their way to get a CAFS demo similar to what this truck would have on it for us to train with. They also brought their demo for us to compare with the other apppartus we had seen from other manufactures. Our suburban board and our build committee were very impressed with their craftsmanship and attention to detail. They treated us like we were their number one priorty. They also did not tell us how to build our truck. We didn't want a cookie cutter truck instead we wanted something more versatile! When we told Glen what we wanted he offered suggestions and ideas that we had overlooked in our build meetings. Some of these ideas saved us a considerable amount of money, and made the truck more practical for our departmnets needs! He also did a very good job thinking outside the box with us! Together we designed a quick attack that would best suit our needs! Through the whole design and bid process they didn't make us feel like we were just another customer.
After Weis won the bid they treated us like we were their number one customer clear through the build process. Another bonus was we could see our truck being built on their website. The photo's were updated twice a week. Toward the end of the build they invited us down to their facility to do the final inspection. After looking over the quick attack their techs offered a couple suggestions that we had overlooked. I was impressed with how much pride their employees have in their job and handywork! They also took a lot of pride in this truck! Everything was built the way we had spec'd it.
On the day the truck was delivered we all had this kid in the candy store look on our face! After that was over Glen went through everything from the front bumper to the tail board! He discussed every component and maintence on the entire apparatus. We then took it to our training facility to train our members on the operation of the CAFS since this was our first CAFS unit. Glen trained everyone until they felt comfortable with the operations of the Quick Attack.
Since the Quick Attack has been in service it has performed excellent, and met all of our expectations!
