Alabama Fire Department Jubilant in New Truck Win

Owens Cross Roads crews are awestruck after being awarded the pumper at FRI

CHICAGO, Ill. -- An Alabama chief still struggles to find the words to describe what winning a new fire truck will mean to his community.  "Unbelievable, unreal -- I just can't think of all the adjectives I want to use," a jubilant Owens Cross Roads Fire Chief Dan Kelly said Monday. Kelly said he and his firefighters are still awestruck that they were the winners of an E-ONE Tradition ES commercial pumper. The announcement was made Friday afternoon at FRI 2010 in Chicago. The engine replaces a 1968 truck that recently failed a pump test, he explained. E-ONE CEO Peter Guile said in a prepared statement, "We were again moved by the compelling nature of the stories and the immense need for equipment and apparatus in the fire service. We are very proud to be able to offer another deserving department a new fire truck and would like to thank all those who entered."
The other finalists included:
- Aubbeenaubbee Township Fire Department, Leiters Ford, Ind.
- Hines Volunteer Fire Department, Hines, Ore.
- Luther Volunteer Fire Department, Luther, Okla.
- Poverty Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Poverty Creek, NM
- Sedan City Fire Department, Sedan, Kan.
- Tri-County Volunteer Fire Department, Wetmore, Mich.
Those departments didn't walk away empty-handed. They received Bullard Helmets, Globe Bunker Gear and a TFT ProPak. One crew also got Havis Tripods and Hannay Reels.

Congratulations to Sedan VFD for making it to the finals.  We look forward to next year’s contest and welcome everyone to participate.  This is a great opportunity for departments all across the nation.  A special Thanks to E One and all the many Sponsors for making this possible.  More information on this contest can be found at www.e-one.com or by contacting Dave Smith at 785-825-9527.

How Long Has It Been Since Your Fire Department’s Pumpers Were Tested?

A Year? A Few Years? You Don’t Know?

The Mobile Pump Testing Program should reduce costly down time and reduce the possibility of your apparatus failing when it's needed most during an emergency. It provides you with the peace of mind that when your apparatus is called upon it will perform as required. Our Mobile Pump Testing Program includes a complete detailed fire pump test performance checklist to assure that the complete unit is checked for defects. We note any defects or repairs that should be performed on the unit. After the Mobile Pump Test is completed the entire checklist will be reviewed with an authorized agent of your fire department. No additional repairs will be performed without prior authorization. The fire departments agent has the right to authorize or decline any or all repairs to the unit. The Mobile Pump Test checklist of what was performed on your unit will be mailed to you. This checklist will provide you with the detail of what was checked for proper operation and what repairs were needed, if repairs were required what was performed to correct the defect or if additional repairs are still needed.
